Batik Printing;









Batik Printing; 
On one of my searches for inspiration I came across this fantastic idea. Batik is an ancient form of Javanese printing. The print blocks are made out of a series of nails banged into a block of solid wood an dipped in wax, which is then transferred using a pattern onto the fabric. The fabric is then dyed over and the wax acts as a resistant. The fabric is then boiled to get rid of the wax and any excess dye. Im really intrigued by this technique. It plays to all my strengths such as painting and dyeing, as apposed to embroidery which we all know I really do not have the patience for...
